buklari, m. rundt, lidet Skjold der førtes i den venstre Haand og derfor kun brug-tes i Kampen tilfods eller tilsøs, menvar forsynet med bukl (fr. bouclier,gd. boglære, buckler, se Blom i AnO.1867 S. 88; Soph. Bugge i AnO. 1875S. 233; Höf. Leb. II, 190), ligesom der udtrykkeligen skjelnes mellem buklari og skjöldr Fld. I, 379; Hirðskrá 35 (4274. 6);DN. I, 321; hann var suðrmaðr okkunni allra manna bezt við buklaraSturL. I, 2344; L. gékk fyrir Sturlu okhlífði honum með buklara, ok hafðisverðit undir buklaranum sem þá ermenn skylmast, en Sturla hafði sínnbuklara yfir höfði honum SturL.
