hafnarmark , n. 1) Mærke opreist ved enHavn, især af en Person, som havdeværet heldig nok til at finde den, og dadels af Taknemmelighed for den Tilflugthan der havde fundet, dels for at detskulde tjene andre Søfarende til Veiled-ning, hvad enten nu dette Mærke bestodaf en høi Sten, en Træstamme, en Vardeeller lignende (se Rymbegla (Havniæ1780) S. 46818 fgg), = hafnarmerki:þessu næst kómu þeir í góða höfn - - ok þar reistu kaupmenn hafnar-mark Bp. I, 56321; "hafnarmark þykkirhlœgligt vera þars þú í steins líkistendr" sagde Atle til den ved SolensOpgang forstenede Jøtunkvinde Hrim-gerðr, Hjørv. 30. 2) Grænselinje somomgiver eller indeslutter en Havnegang,hvad der ligger indenfor dennes Grænser.
