hernaðr, m. 1) Herjen, at man farer frem imod andre med Udøvelse af Voldsom-heder, paa fiendtlig Maade; þat er hern-aðr, ef þeir taka menn eðr fé mannaaf þeim nauðgum, eðr berja þeir menneða binda eða særa, ef þeir afla því Grág. 3836; jvf Landsl. 3, 164; hlaupa í hernaðGrág. 38220; hefja, hefja upp hernaðFm. VII, 725; Grág. 38312. 15; drýgja,reka hernað = herja Grág. 3832; Fm. VII, 4322; rjúfa hernað Sturl.
