Himmelen tænkte man sig nemlig som et Klæde (jvf Job 9, 8; Esaj. 34,4) eller som et Skind (jvf kalfskinn),der var udbredt med sine 4 Hjørner i de 4 höfuðættir; jvf gfr. cappe du ciel.
