hlé, n. 1) Læ, Ly, mindre udsat, mere beskyttet Stilling; er jarlinn komst yfirgarðinn ok í nökkut hlé SturL. I, 9127(Bp. I, 41411); sóttu þangat flestir, semhelzt þótti hléit SturL. II, 5817; erhlé varð á bardaganum dvs. da Slaget,Striden aftog noget i Voldsomhed eller Heftighed (jvf hlið 3), Pr. 13817. 2) Side, fra hvilken man under Seilads ikke erudsat for Vinden, ikke har den blæsendeind Fartøet, men er i Ly for den, Læ-siden, mods. á veðr; ef menn beitaþrábeiting, ok berr þá at boðum, erá hlé sigla, ok vill hann heldr á þásigla (som man har i Luvart, paa den anden Side) en í boða brjóta ByL. 9, 177 = Jb. 400 (NL.
