hleypihvel, n. Krigsmaskine, som beskrivessaaledes: h. er ok gótt vápn þeim, erkastala skal verja, ok skal gört veraaf tveim kvernsteinum, en öxull skalmillim vera, görr af seigri eik, síðanskal leggja út yfir vígskörð ráshöll borð,ok skulu þessi hjól þar á hlaupa oksvá út á folkit Kgs. 8937 (Kgs. Bren. 1075); jvf I. lét reisa stór hjól (i Bor-gen), ok öll sett útan með hvössum tindum ok broddum; - - þeir I.hleyptu á þá hjólunum með öllumhérbúnaði, varð af því mikit mann-spell ok raufst fylkingin Ingv. 7(157 b8. 16).
