húnspánn, m. kun i Plur. húnspænir, sand-synligvis Træstykker som lagdes over denDel af Skibsmastens Top, hvortil Segl-raaen droges op, dels saaledes at hún-bora forlængedes gjennem disse, og Dra-get (dragreip) derved hindredes fra at skjære ind i selve Masten, dels ogsaa paa de to andre Sider af Masten, for derved atstyrke denne, saa at de alle tilsammendannede er Tærning (húnn), der afgav etstøttende Underlag for det Fæste, somVanterne (höfuðbendur) havde i Maste-toppen; hvilke Træstykker i Nordland nukaldes Bjørner, til hvilket Navn húnn Ikan have givet Anledning.
