hvirfingr, m. d. s.; flokkar þeirra - gangabáðir saman, setjast niðr í einn stað íhvirfing, en Úfeigr gengr í hringinnBand. 3315; sem þingit var sett, gékkKonráðr til þings með öllu liði sínualvápnuðu, ok settust niðr í einn hvirf-ing, en er hljóð var, stóð Konráðrupp í miðju Forns. Suðrl. 16928; Helgispurði, hvárt þeir sæti í hvirfing, eðahverr út frá öðrum, hann kvað þá íhvirfingi (jvf or hringinum s. 1846)sitja Laxd. 63 (18122 fg); setjast þeirí hvirfing í halminn Fm.
