II,8615; rödd, er til engrar merkingar erhöfð SE. II, 669. 3) Betydning. Stj.2924; især om en sekundær, typisk eller allegorisk Betydning: Stj. 138. 4911; hinn,er tréin dró ok jók ofan á byrðina,hefir merking þess manns (dvs. merkirþann mann), er hleðr margs konar mis-gerningum ok leggr þó jafnan aðrarsyndir á ofan á framdar afgerðir Hei- lag.
