námgjarn, adj. videbegjærlig, begjærlig efterat nema nám (jvf Bp. I, 227 undernám 2). OH. 27; Gunnlaugr - var nám-gjarn - ok nám kunáttu at GeirríðiÞórolfsdóttur, því at hón var marg-kunnig Eb. 15 (189); námgjarn at guðslögum dvs. begjærlig efter at nema guðslög Hom. 920; hann tók at yrkja, þegarer hann var ungr, ok var maðr nám-gjarn Eg. 82 (20517).
