náttvaka, f. 1) Nattevaagen, Søvnløshedom Natten; skylda vár bindr oss til atbera fyrir ríkisstjórn ok laga varðveizluiðuliga áhyggju ok margar náttvökurRb. 4825. 2) Nattevagt; héldu náttvökuyfir hjörð sínni Hom. 6725 (Luc. 2, 8);hann lét í sífellu náttvökur halda okfór opt sjalfr at skynja vörðinn Pr.2669 fg. 3) Vaagen over náttsett lík (senáttsetja, náttset, náttsetr, náttsæting);alla þjónostu þá, er hafa þarf, skalhann (nL. prestr) veita móti tíund nemanáttvaku (jvf L. 11 se under náttsæting),þær (dvs. þar) skal hann hafa firir 2 alnarvaðmáls Borg. 1, 1228 jvf 2, 207.
