niðrleitr, adj. som har Øinene vendte nedadmod Jorden (jvf niðrbjúgr); maðrinn -er eigi þáleiðis skapaðr lútr ok niðr-leitr sem skynlaus kvikendi, er hanslíkams vöxtr réttr formeraðr upp tilhimins Stj. 2031; þann tíma sem hann(nl. leo) er af veiðimönnum einangraðrok umkringðr, þá er hann heldr niðr-leitr til þess, at hann sjá þí síðr eðrhræðist þeirra tól eðr veiðartœki Stj.7115; hann hefir varla lesit meðanpsalminn: "Deus in adjutorium", áðrúhreinir andar koma aptr farandi samaveg mjök daprir ok niðrleitir Klm. 55335.
