(st) stikke Næsen frem, ned for dermed at drage Veiret, snuse, veire efternoget, søge at faa opsporet noget (viðra,draga veðr af e-u); sá hann leon einnmikinn koma til sín, ok gékk þar til,sem líkit lá, ok nýsti at sporum þeirrarennar helgu konu Heilag. I, 49411; ennvari gestr, er - eyrum hlýðir en augomskoðar; svá nýsist fróðra hverr fyrir(dvs. nýsir hverr fróðra fyrir sik) Hm. 7;nýsta ek niðr, nam ek upp rúnar Hm.139. - Dette Verbum staar vistnok iForbindelse med Substantivet njósn, somsynes vise tilbage paa eller forudsætte etældre Verbum njósa, jvf ags. neosjan,gsax. njusjan, njuson, ght. njusian, got.biniuhsian, jvf DGr.
