óðinn, m. var en af de gamle Nordmænds Guder (ght. wuotan, gsax. wuodan,wodan, ags. voden, se Dm. 120 fgg) ,som antoges for at være den sammesom eller identificeredes med RomernesMercurius; þeir kölluðu Paulum Óðin- en Barnabas Þór (Vulg. vocabantBarnabam Jovem, Paulum vero Mer-curium) Post. 2202 (Ap. Gj. 14, 11);var einn maðr sá, er Mercurius hét,en hann var svá fárs fullr ok svika, athann fór at flærð einni at stela okljúga; þann gerðu þeir heiðinn mannat guði sér ok blótaðu hann at brautamóti ok hæstum björgum, en hann hétÓðinn á dönsku Hb. 1612; hinn fjórðadag gáfo þeir Mercurio, þann er vérköllum Óðin Hb. 173 fg.
