prestlingr, m. Person som skal blive Prest (jvf gsv. pepling af papa Fornsv. Le-gend. I, 5971); sú var öll iðja hans (nl.Klængs biskups) senn at kenna prest-lingum, ok ritaði ok söng psaltara Bp.I, 8315; til þess at stýra skólanum okkenna þeim mönnum, er þar settust í,þá valdi hann einn enn bezta klerk -;hann reiddi honum mikit kaup til hvárstveggja at kenna prestlingum ok at -Bp. I, 16328 jvf 19; þat er rétt at látalæra prestling til kirkjo sínnar; hannskal gera máldaga við sveininn sjalfan,ef - Grág. 2023 (jvf Grg. I, 1720); efmaðr þarf oleanar ok má eigi fylkis-prestr viðr koma, þá oli sá hann, erkirkjusóknina á, með prestlings hjálp- Frost. 2, 172. Jvf. djákn.
