(að) rugge, rokke, vugge, sætte eller holde noget i en gyngende Bevæ-gelse, i en vaklende Stilling (jvf róa; se og Aasen 616a42 fgg); hann sá þar tværkonur, ok vaf önnur guðvef en önnurruggaði barni Fm. III, 17817; hafði hannruggat alla dygð Júde Post. 55617; setrhann upp stór óp -, segir þar með,at sá úvinrinn, er hann gleypti (ved atdrikke) af lœknum, rífr ok ruggar öllhans iðr Bp. II, 8714.
