salta, v. (að) salte, nedlægge i Salt; var lík hans saltat, at eigi þefaði þat íllaat sumarligum sólarhita ok fyrirfœrist Heilag. II, 18717; þeir segja -, hversu ferliga hann hafi með farit, saltathöfuðit um vetrinn en flutt til alþingis um sumarit Ljósv. 3261; búkana sjálfa sýnist þeim at salta niðr í eina gröf Heilag. II, 1116; saltat flesk Ridd. 2410; þeir drógu fótinn til skips ok söltuðu í hvíta salti Ingv. 6 (155a3).
