Tiden fra høieste til laveste Vande, fra Flod til fuld Ebbe; nú kemrbyrr á, þá skolu hásetar biða stýri-manns síns þrjú sjófarföll Byl. 9, 71;hón (sjóskrimsl, er hafgufa heitir) erí kafi, svá at dœgrum skiptir, ok þá(er) hún skýtr upp höfði sínu ok nös-um, þá er þat aldri skemmr enn sjó-farfall, at hún er uppi Fld. II, 24916;n. liggr sofandi þurr ok frjáls í miðjusjófarfalli Heilag. II, 6615.
