skotmaðr, m. 1) Skytter, Person hvis Gjer- ning det er at bruge Skyde- og Kaste-vaaben; þá skiptir Metellus liðinu oksetr saman í ena hœgri hlið, er nærvar fjándmönnum; lét þrefalt standaok setr skotmenn ok þá, er slöngurhafa í hver manipulos Pr. 2707 (= lat.sagitarius Sall. Jug. c. 49). 2) Per- son hvis Skudvaaben (skot 2) findes ien død Hval; finnz skot í hvargi, sem áland rekr, þá á skotmaðr heimting sínshlutar Grg. II, 1282; ef hvalr er virðr,ok komi eigi fram verðit, þá á skot-maðr at stefna o. s. v. Grg. II, 12914;skotmanns hlutr = skothlutr Grg. II,1298.
