stórsœmd, f. stor Æresbevisning; Magnúsfór þegar í klæðin, ok mæltu allir, erhann sá, at eigi mundi finnast honumvænni maðr eða tiguligri, ok sögðu,sem satt var, at þar var stórsœmdafyrir vert Fm. XI, 3311; Þ. mælti: vissuþér, at ek drap útlaga yðvarn herra,ok hætta þar til lífi mínu, ok þá ekfyrir þat af yðr stórsœmdir; meirisœmdir skaltu nú hafa, segir jarl Nj.89 (1343); hét Hákon konungr honumstórsœmdum, áðr þeir skildi, ef þeirværi báðir heilir Sturl. II, 25613.
