stubbi, m. 1) = stubbr, stúfr (jvf stobbi,stabbi); hefir nú í hendi spjótskapts-brot ok laust til heiðingja eins meðþeim stubba Klm. 511 &vl 12; hón sjalfsœkir handarafhöggit fram í kirkjunaok setr síðan viðr stubbann svá meistar-liga í augnabragði, at hvárt kysti annatmeð öllu algróit Post. 5016; Geirr greipþá einn árarstubba Harð. 26 (823). 2) = tréstubbi; þeir skutu stubba nökk-urum undir kné Önundi, ok stóð hannheldr fast Grett. 718.
