svipa, f. 1) Slag med Svøbe; þessi sparirekki at þakka þeim svipurnar, dráttok keppingarnar með blóti ok beiskriblístran Mar. 56424. 2) Svøbe, Red-skab hvormed man slaar; þeir keyrðuhestana með svipum eða sporum Hei-lag. I, 18217; tók annarr í hár henniok leiddi hana, en annarr hafði svipuí hendi ok keyrði hana Svarfd. 2934;Ridd. 12122; Heilag. II, 3618; faðir mínnbarði yðr vöndum eða svipum, en ekskal með höggormum ok haldrekumStj. 57829 (Vulg. III Reg. 12, 11).
