svipr, m. 1) Glimt, Syn som farer en hur-tig forbi og derefter forsvinder; við þettavaknaði Gautr ok þóttist sjá svipinnmannsins í því, er hann brá í sundraugunum Flat. I, 50315; annarr segir,at hann sá svipinn mannsins, er stökkyfir götuna Flat. II, 13232; jvf II, 32218;þóttist hann sjá svipinn til konungs,at hann stökk fyrir borð í brynju sínniFlat. I, 49310; Þorbjörn hafði svip afkonunni Grett. 10232; hann hefir svipaf göngu mannsins Bp. I, 53114. 2) Udseende; þik hefi ek sét annan væn-ligstan en hann ok honum líkastanat svip Fld. II, 4738.
