Saar som foraarsages derved, at Sverdet, som ikke bider godt nok, hvor det rammer, glider af og gjør et Snit i samme Retning som Lemmets Overflade (jvf sveðja Dpl. 2429); nú féll G., okí því veifði hann sverðinu at Grími okkom á fótinn, ok varð þat svöðusár Dpl.3613; H. hjó til hans, kom á öxlina oksveif ofan á bringuna, varð þat svöðu-sár Fm. VII, 1677; hann sá, hvar maðrbatt svöðusár eitt; konungr sagði, atekki hafði Þórolfr veitt þat sár, ok altbitu honum annan veg vápnin EG. 22(4126); verðr þat svöðusár ok eigi bein-högg Sturl.
