tempran, f. 1) Ordning, at noget sættesi den Stand eller Stilling hvori detskal være; læknir segir hinum sjúkahverrar fœzlu honum hœfir at neytatil tempranar sínnar heilsu Stat. 1331. 2) Beherskelse, Holden i Tømme; lyðrinnfær enga tempran á gert sínum hugar-œsingi Heilag. II, 12523. 36. 3) Tempe-ratur; þar er aldrigi frost né ofmikillhiti, heldr er þar jafnan hin beztatempran loptsins Stj. 6813; sólar gangr-inn er þar bæði mönnum ok búi hœgrok harðla skemtiligr, landsins tempranöll lystilig, en loptit bæði blítt okskært Stj. 9125.
