þroti, m. 1) Hævelse, Hovenhed; var kom-inn þroti mikill í kné honum, svá atbæði bolgnaði leggrinn ok lærit uppífrá OH. 1257; tók þegar allan þrotaok sviða af sárinu Laxd. 58 (1683); fráþeim tíma mátti ekki kenna í kviðihennar þrota Bp. I, 35324 jvf 18; fig. settihann á mót þeim góðgjarnliga dœmi-sögu ok þröngði sárligom þrota í hjört-um þeirra Leif. 587. 2) Stivsind, Hals-starrighed; þrjózkufullr þroti Bp. II, 8912.
