viðfang, n. 1) at man har noget med en at gjøre (jvf fást við); hón var röskligkona ok góð viðfangs Sturl. II, 1757;sögðu, at honum myndi Sveinki reyn-ast harðr viðfangs Fm. VII, 208; eptirþenna fund tók Þórir skapskipti, görð-ist hann þá mjök íllr viðfangs Þorskf. 7910. 2) Forraad, hvad man har atgribe til, forsyne sig med for et Tilfælde; er þat örugt vígi, meðan er oss vinnstvist, en er þat þrýtr, þá mun íllt tilviðfanga Fm. VIII, 34911; hönd komþar út - ok tók ör, er lá á þekjunni,ok myndi eigi út leitat viðfanga, efgnógt væri inni Nj. 78 (11515).
