yfirferð, f. 1) Reise hvorved man farer overeller gjennem et Land, en Egn eller Eien-dom; ef ér vilit heldr hinn kost at hafaland várt til yfirferðar, þá skal þatheimilt, ok vilið ér fara landveg í ríkiyðvart norðr í Noreg OH. 1667; hannveitti þeim - til yfirferðar útskaga sínsríkis Stj. 40613; veita e-m yfirferð dvs. giveen Tilladelse til at lægge sin Vei over enEiendom, DN. II, 548. 2) Reise om-kring i en Egn; om Biskops Reise om-kring i sit Bispedømme, Borg. 1, 10; Bp.I, 8410; ætlaðist hón til yfirferðar (dvs.hun agtede sig til at reise omkring) okbiðja sér matar Bp.
