yfirgirnd, f. umættelig Begjærlighed især efter Magt og Ære; drambsamlig yfir-girnd Kgs. 9619. 11227; svá var mikithans ríki ok yfirgirnd við sér ríkarimenn, at hann þoldi engis höfðingjaundirmaðr at vera, nema hann hefðialt þat, er hann beiddist, ríki ok aðrahluti Fm. III, 4511.
